Unlike competitive debate formats (e.g., Oxford or Parliamentary), this model is based on\u00a0cooperation between opposing sides, to achieve an\u00a0increase in knowledge\u00a0(known as\u00a0<em>cognitive gain<\/em>) for both the participants and the audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Cracovian Debate model was developed after more than five years of pilot research conducted with hundreds of high school and university students in Poland and across Europe.
